Kartiga Thavaraj is a partner with a specialized practice focused on both infrastructure/construction and human rights litigation. She routinely represents clients in complex infrastructure matters, including on public-private-partnership (P3) projects, construction litigation, and other civil/commercial litigation, and acts in human rights and constitutional cases before the courts and at the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.
Kartiga believes strongly in advocating for social justice and human rights and in mentorship in the legal profession. She is committed to pro bono work, and is a member of the Group of Racialized Ontario Women Litigators (GROWL), the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL). She co-founded the Tamil Bar Association (TBA) and served as their inaugural president. She also teaches and coaches a moot at two of Toronto’s law schools.
