Emily's practice focuses on labour and employment law, human rights, and public and administrative law. She is a talented and resourceful lawyer who works with her clients to develop practical solutions to their legal problems. Emily particularly enjoys identifying and resolving complex factual and legal issues.
Emily is a member of the firm's workplace investigation team. She provides advice and counsel in workplace investigations, including on sensitive topics such as sexual violence and harassment. Her investigative work is informed by her work for universities, which often involves litigation or prosecution pursuant to an internal code of conduct following the outcome of an internal investigation. She has seen how a good investigation can provide clarity and direction to a workplace - and how a bad investigation can often make things worse.
Emily joined Paliare Roland as an associate in 2017 after working for the firm as both a summer student and an articling student. As a law student, Emily spent two terms working at Parkdale Community Legal Services in the Housing Rights division and received various academic prizes for top marks.
