Ryan Shah is an associate at Paliare Roland whose practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation and proceedings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.

Ryan regularly appears in complex insolvency matters on the Ontario Superior Court of Justice’s Commercial List and has also appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

In his insolvency practice, Ryan acts for secured and unsecured creditors, Court-appointed officers and debtors. In particular, Ryan has significant experience representing Court-appointed officers in complex commercial disputes involving distressed real estate. He also represents clients in administrative law matters and employment disputes.

Ryan joined Paliare Roland as an associate after working as an articling and summer student at the firm. Ryan is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of law where he assisted legal aid clients and students with housing law matters as a volunteer at Downtown legal Services. Ryan has a keen interest in oral advocacy and won the Callaghan Cup moot in 2021.

Cameron Stephens Mortgage Capital Ltd. v. Conacher Kingston Holdings Inc.

Counsel to Court-appointed receiver responding to an appeal of an Order directing a further auction in connection with real estate under receivership. The appeal was dismissed (2025 ONCA 732).

In the Matter of the Notice of Intention to Make a Proposal to Creditors of P3 Panel Company et al.

Counsel to proposal trustee in connection with the successful Court-supervised sale of a roof and wall fabrication business in a proceeding under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BK25-00000237-0033).

First Source Financial Management Inc. v. King David Inc. et al

Counsel to creditor in motion by debtor to set aside garnishment issued by the creditor because of alleged harm that this garnishment was causing to the debtor’s business operations. The motion was dismissed in its entirety (2025 ONSC 4228).

V2 Investment Holdings Inc. v. Sam Mizrahi

Counsel to the applicant in a successful application for judgment on an outstanding loan, which decision rejected efforts by the respondents to convert the application into an action (2025 ONSC 1715).

Cameron Stephens Mortgage Capital Ltd. v. 2011836 Ontario Corp., 2026 ONCA 77

 Counsel to court-appointed receiver in connection with a motion by a debtor seeking, among other things, leave to appeal a court order obtained by the receiver. The Court of Appeal dismissed the motion for leave to appeal and awarded costs to receiver.

 Kearns v. Nickel2025 ONSC 6742

 Counsel to a director of a publicly traded company in a motion to strike out two claims against the director for failing to disclose a reasonable cause of action. Both claims were struck out against the director in their entirety and the plaintiffs were not granted leave to amend their claims, resulting in the dismissal of both actions as against the director.
